Icebreaker: What is your favorite season of the year? Why?
Read Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. In this list of opposites, is the writer describing what is, or prescribing what one should do? Why do you think so? Which one these verses causes you the most anxiety or pain? Which brings you the most satisfaction or joy?
Read Ecclesiastes 3:9-14. What is the “burden that God has laid on the human race” (v. 10)? What does it mean to “set eternity in the human heart” (v. 11)? What is the writer trying to encourage in verses 12-13? Hedonism? Gratitude? Something else? What is the point of all of this (consider v. 14)?
What season of life have you most recently come out of? What lessons did you learn during that season? What do you wish you had done differently?
What season of life are you presently in or heading into? What will it look like to fully “embrace” this season? What goals would you like to set? Who could help you reach those goals?
How can we pray for each other?
