Advent-Christmas-candle-10What if you could take 5 minutes a week for 5 weeks to help your family keep their hearts focused on Jesus this Christmas? Our Family Advent Guide will help you do that.

We know you’re busy, and we know how quickly Christmas comes and goes. We want to give you the opportunity to slow down and think about the real reason for Christmas. That’s what the Advent season is all about. Here’s how it works:

1. Download our 2014 Family Advent Guide here: for e-readers | print at home

2. Gather a few supplies: you’ll need 5 candles. You can go as simple or as elaborate, traditional or modern, as you want. See the Advent Guide for details.

3. Schedule appointments in your calendar so you’ll make these moments a priority. Advent candles are traditionally lit on Sundays. This year, Advent begins on 11/30. This guide coordinates with Creekside’s 2014 Christmas teaching series “For All Mankind”, so if you’re following along, look at the suggested dates for each FamilyTime moment in the guide.

4. Relax. The moments themselves are simple: 5 times between 11/30 and 12/25, you’ll light a candle, read a short scripture, and talk about what that means for us. You’ll love the quiet moment it gives you. And let’s be honest, kids love anything that includes fire.
